About the company:
A global leader in the online marketplace domain, this organisation really cares about creating an incredible experience for their customers and a passionate tech culture for their people.

New technologies are embraced, then their limits are tested. Can you truly know the value of the latest tools and practices if you don’t experiment with them? They say no. And so, they encourage their teams to be guided by the curious nature that led them to tech. Concisely put, this organisation provides their people with a space to do what they love, unreservedly.

The work environment is agile, fast-paced and dynamic. Here, employees as seen as individuals and the life they live outside of work is respected. Whether it’s fully or partially remote, or in the office most of the time, the work arrangements on offer are the best kind: flexible and generous.

Trail-blazing innovation. Work/life balance. There’s a lot to love.

About the role:

Just because someone has been a developer for a long time, doesn’t mean they have become excellent at it – but you have. You’ve been in the game long enough to be exposed to a wide variety of issues and you’ve had to make some hard calls. From that, you’ve cultivated a handy little by-product: the wisdom to see how choices made early, inextricably pay off later.

Under your belt is multiple design paradigms, multiple languages, and multiple teams. But the sharpest tool in your shed? Your intuition. That awareness and understanding of the advantages and trade-offs of different approaches. Server-side is your happy place, but if you need to be involved in those architectural and high-level discussions, you can be counted on to provide the “big picture” perspective. This is an Individual Contributor (IC) role, however you will be counted on by the EM to help with Solution Design as well as help mentor and guide more Junior Engineers in the team.

About the stack & expereince:
  • Experience as a Lead Engineer, Technical Lead, Principal Engineer, or similar
  • Strong people leadership & product delivery skills
  • Strong development background: ideally in JavaScript, React, Node, Golang
  • Strong AWS/Cloud/Serverless experience
  • Strong Agile or Lean skills
  • Ability to oscillate between coaching, technical and non-technical solutions
  • Appreciation of best practices: TDD/BDD, Design Patterns, DevOps, CI/CD, containerisation, etc.
This role will appeal to someone who is passionate about the tech and product delivery whilst guiding a growing and guiding a team to reach some awesome goals!
